Yunnan Journey
Arrive Dali → Zhoucheng Village
Arrive in Dali. Visit Zhoucheng Village — the 'tie-dye capital of China'. Learn traditional Bai ethnic tie-dye techniques from master artisans. Make your own piece to take home.
Erhai Lake
Cycle or drive around Erhai Lake, stopping at picturesque lakeside villages. Visit the Dali Three Pagodas. Watch the sunset from Cangshan Mountain's foothills.
Shaxi Ancient Town
Drive to Shaxi — the best-preserved caravan stop on the ancient Tea Horse Road. This tiny town has original cobblestone streets, a 600-year-old market square, and almost no tourists. Afternoon: explore Shibao Mountain's Buddhist grottoes.
Shaxi → Lijiang
Morning: explore Shaxi's Friday market (if timing allows). Drive to Lijiang. Afternoon: wander Lijiang Old Town's canal-lined streets. Evening: rooftop bar overlooking the old town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Lijiang → Lugu Lake
Scenic drive through mountains to Lugu Lake — the 'Kingdom of Women'. This is home to the Mosuo people, one of the last matrilineal societies on Earth. Sunset canoe ride on the lake.
Lugu Lake
Full day exploring Lugu Lake: visit Lige Peninsula, Mosuo villages, walk along the shoreline path. Take a traditional pig-trough boat ride. Experience a Mosuo bonfire party.
Lugu Lake → Lijiang (Departure)
Morning sunrise at Lugu Lake. Return to Lijiang for departure.

Practical Tips
- Best season: March–May and September–November. Summer (June–August) is rainy season.
- Altitude: Dali (1,970m) → Lijiang (2,400m) → Lugu Lake (2,690m). Manageable for most people.
- Shaxi tip: Stay at least one night to experience the magical quiet evenings after day-trippers leave.
- Lugu Lake: 4–5 hour drive from Lijiang. Some roads are winding — take motion sickness medication if needed.
- Budget: ~3,500-5,000 CNY per person.
