Practical Tips
- Permits: Tashkurgan (border area) may require a border permit β your tour operator handles this.
- Time zone: Xinjiang unofficially uses Beijing+2 hours. Restaurants open at 8pm, sunset around 10pm in summer.
- Food: Uyghur cuisine is outstanding β try polo (pilaf), laghman (hand-pulled noodles), and samsa (baked dumplings).
- Budget: ~4,500-6,500 CNY per person.
