Arrive Huangshan β Hongcun Village
Arrive at Huangshan North Station (HSR from Shanghai: 4hrs). Drive to Hongcun β the village that inspired the settings of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'. Walk along the moon-shaped Nanhu Lake and explore 400-year-old merchant mansions.
Bishan Village & Rapeseed Fields
Visit Bishan, where an architect has transformed ancient houses into a stunning rural bookshop (η’§ε±±δΉ¦ε±). Drive through golden rapeseed flower corridors winding between white-walled villages and misty mountains. Photography paradise.
Xidi Village & Huizhou Architecture

- Rapeseed season: Mid-March to mid-April is peak bloom. Shexian and Xiuning counties have the best fields.
- Hongcun early morning: Enter before 7am β the ticket office hasn't opened yet and you can experience the village without crowds.
- Sketch artist culture: You'll see hundreds of art students painting in Hongcun β it's one of China's top art education destinations.
- Transport: HSR from Shanghai (4hrs), Hangzhou (2hrs), Nanjing (3hrs) to Huangshan North.
