schedule10 min readcalendar_todayMarch 27, 2026personChinaTravelFix Team

Hotpot, pandas, Kuanzhai Alley, Yulin night strolls, and way too many egg cakes — a 2-day, 1-night Chengdu blitz that covers all the essentials without exhausting you.

💡
Chengdu isn't for "touring" — it's for living. Slow down, loosen the itinerary, wander the old alleys of Yulin, zone out for an afternoon in People's Park. Maybe at some street corner, you'll stumble onto your own Chengdu moment. 🐼

Day-by-Day Itinerary

2 Days in Chengdu

Day 1 (Afternoon → Night)

Hotpot → Kuixinglou → Kuanzhai → People's Park → Chunxi Road → Taikoo Li → Jinli

Landed around noon, checked into the hotel near Kuanzhai Alley by 1:30 PM. Started with hotpot for lunch — the only proper way to begin a Chengdu trip.

Kuixinglou Street (魁星楼) — Snack heaven! Packed with street food stalls. Way better eating here than inside Kuanzhai Alley itself.

Kuanzhai Alley (宽窄巷子) — Yes, it's commercialized. But if it's your first time, you should still walk through it. Save your appetite for Kuixinglou though.

People's Park (人民公园) — Famous for its marriage market corner. If you're not feeling energetic, just grab a seat and people-watch with friends. Pure Chengdu vibes.

Chunxi Road + IFS + Taikoo Li — These three are right next to each other, so they go fast. Chunxi Road has street snacks; IFS has the climbing panda butt photo op; Taikoo Li is luxury shopping — but there's a temple inside worth a quick look.

Jinli (锦里) — A reconstructed ancient street. Nice to walk through, but don't eat inside — the food is overpriced and underwhelming.

Day 2 (Full Day)

Giant Panda Base → Eastern Suburbs Memory → Yulin CityWalk → Jixiang Street → Depart

Giant Panda Base (大熊猫繁育研究基地)You MUST go early! Pandas hate heat — they're most active before 10 AM. After 11, they turn into "panda pancakes" and just sleep. We entered from the West Gate (less crowded) and barely had to queue. 🐼

Eastern Suburbs Memory (东郊记忆) — A former electronics factory turned industrial-chic arts park. Great for photos! There's an amazing bakery inside — Union Bagel Market, their bread is incredible 🌟. Cute trinkets for souvenirs too.

Yulin Road CityWalk (玉林路) — Wander the plane-tree-lined old alleys: vintage shops, indie coffee, small bars, Yulin Chuanchuan Xiang (skewers), Wang Ma hand-torn roast rabbit, guokui (baked flatbread), Gaoji Tofu Brains... this is peak street food Chengdu.

Jixiang Street (吉祥街) — Final stop before the hotel: Chunyang Paigu Mian (排骨面) — skip the noodles, the red oil wontons (红油抄手) are the real star.

🍽️ Food Picks

  • 坎儿尖 — Solid Sichuan meals
  • 钟水饺 — Classic Chengdu dumplings
  • 西月城谭豆花 (breakfast) — A must-eat every trip to Chengdu
  • Union Bagel Market (东郊记忆) — Their bread is unreal 🌟
  • 纯阳馆鱼香排骨面 — Best item: 红油抄手 (red oil wontons)
  • 蛋烘糕 (egg cakes) — ¥5 street snacks everywhere, never miss
  • 锦城吃茶 / 李山山茶事 / 树夏 — Tea & café spots worth checking
⚠️
Skip: 乐山鲜知味钵钵鸡 + 黄嬢甜不辣 (东郊记忆店) — disappointing. Save your stomach for better options.
ℹ️
Hotel tip: Stay near Kuanzhai Alley — it's central for Day 1 walking. Jixiang Street with its food is right there too. For Day 2, take Didi or Metro to the Panda Base and Eastern Suburbs Memory.
