20,000 steps along the Bund, shooting from dawn to midnight â 17 specific locations where every photo looks like it belongs in a gallery.
đĄ
I walked 20,000 steps shooting the Bund from sunrise to midnight. Every corner hides a surprise. From the vintage Bund Source buildings to the Lujiazui night skyline â here are 17 specific spots where the photos basically take themselves.
Trip Highlights
The 17 Spots
- New Tian'an Church đ 107 South Suzhou Road â Red brick + Gothic spire, 1886 heritage. Effortless British-style shots.
- People's Hero Monument (Waibaidu Bridge gap view) đ 111 North Suzhou Road â Peek through the bridge gap to frame Lujiazui trio + Monument together!
- Waibaidu Bridge (multiple angles) â Spots 4-7 all work. Stand on the bridge, use the steel beams to frame the Lujiazui towers. Classic.
- Suzhou Creek (from Waibaidu Bridge, facing west) â Tour boats gliding past, modern buildings and old villas alternating on both banks.
- Peace Hotel đ 20 East Zhongshan No.1 Road â The green pyramid roof IS the Bund. "The finest building east of Suez" lives up to its name.
- Shanghai Customs House Clock Tower đ 13 East Zhongshan No.1 Road â The Bund's "timekeeper." The clock tower seems to narrate a century of Shanghai's story.
- Shanghai Bill Exchange Building đ 14 East Zhongshan No.1 Road â European stone facade + exquisite reliefs. Every detail whispers old Shanghai elegance.
- East Zhongshan No.1 Road (full row) â A century of international architecture stretching along the Huangpu River, flowing traffic in the foreground.
- Asia Building đ 1 East Zhongshan No.1 Road â Retro building textures + Shanghai taxis rolling past. Pure documentary feel.
- Nissin Building đ 5 East Zhongshan No.1 Road â Rare Japanese-Western fusion architecture. An overlooked gem on the Bund.
- Yifeng Bund Source đ 99 East Beijing Road â Shoot through the gap between buildings for amazing layered depth.
- People's Hero Monument Walkway đ 500 East Zhongshan No.1 Road â Walk along the monument path for a sweeping cityscape panorama.
- Customs House at Night đ 13 East Zhongshan No.1 Road â The golden facade lit up at night is absolutely stunning.
- Bund Riverside Promenade (facing Lujiazui) â The Bund night view is Shanghai's trump card. End of discussion.
âšī¸
Best strategy: Start at Bund Source in the morning (north end), work your way south along the Bund during golden hour, then stay for the night skyline. Bring a small tripod for the evening shots â the long exposures of the lit-up buildings are unreal.
