20,000 steps along the Bund, shooting from dawn to midnight — 17 specific locations where every photo looks like it belongs in a gallery.

💡
I walked 20,000 steps shooting the Bund from sunrise to midnight. Every corner hides a surprise. From the vintage Bund Source buildings to the Lujiazui night skyline — here are 17 specific spots where the photos basically take themselves.

The 17 Spots

  1. New Tian'an Church 📍 107 South Suzhou Road — Red brick + Gothic spire, 1886 heritage. Effortless British-style shots.
  2. People's Hero Monument (Waibaidu Bridge gap view) 📍 111 North Suzhou Road — Peek through the bridge gap to frame Lujiazui trio + Monument together!
  3. Waibaidu Bridge (multiple angles) — Spots 4-7 all work. Stand on the bridge, use the steel beams to frame the Lujiazui towers. Classic.
  4. Suzhou Creek (from Waibaidu Bridge, facing west) — Tour boats gliding past, modern buildings and old villas alternating on both banks.
  5. Peace Hotel 📍 20 East Zhongshan No.1 Road — The green pyramid roof IS the Bund. "The finest building east of Suez" lives up to its name.
  6. Shanghai Customs House Clock Tower 📍 13 East Zhongshan No.1 Road — The Bund's "timekeeper." The clock tower seems to narrate a century of Shanghai's story.
  7. Shanghai Bill Exchange Building 📍 14 East Zhongshan No.1 Road — European stone facade + exquisite reliefs. Every detail whispers old Shanghai elegance.
  8. East Zhongshan No.1 Road (full row) — A century of international architecture stretching along the Huangpu River, flowing traffic in the foreground.
  9. Asia Building 📍 1 East Zhongshan No.1 Road — Retro building textures + Shanghai taxis rolling past. Pure documentary feel.
  10. Nissin Building 📍 5 East Zhongshan No.1 Road — Rare Japanese-Western fusion architecture. An overlooked gem on the Bund.
  11. Yifeng Bund Source 📍 99 East Beijing Road — Shoot through the gap between buildings for amazing layered depth.
  12. People's Hero Monument Walkway 📍 500 East Zhongshan No.1 Road — Walk along the monument path for a sweeping cityscape panorama.
  13. Customs House at Night 📍 13 East Zhongshan No.1 Road — The golden facade lit up at night is absolutely stunning.
  14. Bund Riverside Promenade (facing Lujiazui) — The Bund night view is Shanghai's trump card. End of discussion.

Best strategy: Start at Bund Source in the morning (north end), work your way south along the Bund during golden hour, then stay for the night skyline. Bring a small tripod for the evening shots — the long exposures of the lit-up buildings are unreal.
