Day-by-Day Itinerary
3 Days with Parents
French Concession + Huangpu River Night Cruise
Morning: Metro Line 10 → Jiaotong University Exit 7 → Wukang Building (武康大楼) → Soong Ching-ling's Former Residence → stroll Anfu Road (安福路) for old villa photo ops.
Lunch: Yi Jia Yi Yan (忆家一宴) Nandan East Rd — authentic Shanghainese home-style. The braised pork belly and smoked pomfret are incredible. Packed with locals = legit.
Evening: Shiliupu Pier (十六铺码头) Huangpu River night cruise. Buy tickets on Dianping/Meituan in advance. Night Shanghai hits different. 🌃
Classic Landmarks: Bund, Nanjing Rd, Oriental Pearl
Breakfast: Da Hu Chun (大壶春) / Xiao Yang Sheng Jian (小杨生煎) / Lai Lai Xiaolongbao
Morning: Nanjing Road Walking Street (南京路步行街) → The Bund (外滩). Daytime Bund is less crowded — perfect for slow walks and photos with the "Museum of World Architecture".
Lunch: Peace Hotel (和平饭店) — ¥150+/person, vintage atmosphere, amazing for photos. Or budget option: Xian De Lai (鲜得来) pork chop rice cakes.
Afternoon: Oriental Pearl Tower (东方明珠) — buy tickets on Meituan. Watch sunset from the top at 6pm when the Bund lights up. Take lots of photos of your parents! 📸
Dinner: Shan Shi Liu (山石榴) Guizhou cuisine — the sour fish soup is perfect on a cold day. Skip if parents can't handle spice.
Yuyuan Garden + City God Temple
Morning: Yuyuan Garden (豫园) 🎫 Peak ¥40 / Off-peak ¥30 (60+ half price, 70+ free). Book on WeChat mini-program "上海豫园". Beautiful Jiangnan gardens with a ~500-year-old ginkgo tree.
Must-see: Jade Rock (玉玲珑), Dianchun Hall (点春堂), Nine-Zigzag Bridge. Parent photo spots: Yanshan Hall, covered walkways.
City God Temple (城隍庙) 🎫 ¥10 — Rub the bronze lion at the entrance for good luck.
Lunch: Song Yue Lou (松月楼) — century-old vegetarian restaurant. Veggie buns + osmanthus cake. ~¥60/person, mild flavours perfect for older folks.
✨ Keep it slow: 2 main spots per day is plenty
✨ Mix metro + taxi (avoid long walks)
✨ Take lots of family photos — they won't ask, but they really want them ❤️
